Crossing the Screen film festival is passionate about sharing stories that cross boundaries and bring awareness to new horizons. Based in Eastbourne, East Sussex, the film festival is proudly situated by the sea in one of the UK’s most beautiful towns, with a direct train connection to London

What films do we accept?
Crossing the Screen accepts all genres and formats of films, including genres: drama, comedy, documentary, romance, horror, you name it, we’ve probably screened it!

We love seeing both live-action films and animations. We love to see mixed media too, so don’t be afraid to get creative with your filmmaking!

Student films are a massive part of the film festival. We want to foster rising creatives and include student discounts for our FilmFreeway page.

From feature films to short films. We accept any length of film and look to include a variety of lengths for both our feature and short length competitions. 

Event and location
The festival plays in Eastbourne and has screened at a variety of venues around the town. With direct access to London and Brighton by Trainline, Eastbourne is situated next to the sea with wonderful beaches and plenty to do. We are passionate about supporting and building the creative community in the town and are proud to be the “longest-running International Film Festival of Eastbourne” (as Wikipedia puts it) and share incredible work produced from around the world.

Tickets
You will be able to purchase your tickets or festival pass online or at the door. The 2026 edition of the film festival will take place in spring 2026 across 2 venues.
