Eastbourne International Film Festival is an exciting platform for showcasing innovative and independent visual art from around the world. The Sussex-based film festival is devoted to discovering and celebrating unique voices and emerging new cinema talents, who are not afraid to transcend traditional storytelling.

Crossing The Screen is the power house of the film festival, and its involvement in monthly community cinema screenings and events across Eastbourne adds a dynamic dimension to the festival’s outreach.
eastbourne international film festival history
The inaugural edition was held at the Birley Centre in Eastbourne, East Sussex, in November 2016.
Its 2nd and 3rd editions took place in Eastbourne, in November, over 4 different venues, including the renowned Towner Art Gallery.
The 4th Crossing the Screen Film Festival (September 2019) was held in the Leaf Hall Community Arts Centre to highlight the strong bond with the artistic local community.
The 5th edition (26-29 November 2020) and 6th Edition ( March 2021 ) were held online-only due to the emergency of Covid-19.
The 7th edition was held at The GROVE Theatre in Eastbourne from 3rd to 5th March 2023, with a pre-festival film screening, which took place at Leaf Hall Community Arts Centre on 2nd March.
The 8th edition of the film festival 2024, was on March 21-24, back at the Grove Theatre in Eastbourne.
The 9th edition is in development and you can submit your films for the festival on Film Freeway and come along for our networking, screenings and educational workshops!
