Crossing the Screen Film Festival 2024

Crossing the Screen 2024 (presented for the first time as just the ‘8th Eastbourne International Film Festival’ due to its strong bond with the community of Eastbourne) was held from March 21 to 24, 2024, at the Grove Theatre. The choice of a new name signified not just a change but a deeper connection with the city that embraced and supported its venture for eight remarkable years.

As in other editions, the festival presented a variety of international and British feature and short films, documentaries, animations, and experimental pieces, including 4 world premieres, 1 international premiere, and 14 UK premieres.
Crossing the Screen 2024 continued to engage the local community through volunteer programs and partnerships with educational institutions such as the East Sussex College Group. This initiative aimed to inspire and nurture local talent. The festival also included a workshop on animation and a scriptwriting seminar, providing practical insights and skills for both emerging filmmakers and cinema enthusiasts.

Noteworthy this year was the collaboration with local and international artists: painter Rosanna Della Valle created the official poster for the 8th edition, and artist Elda Abramson designed the artwork for the official awards.
